Willing Workers Club holds January meeting
Willing Workers Club met at 11:30 on January 2nd in Canute. Nine members were present and started with a blessing and a meal. Patsy Walker won the host gift.
Amber Hall called the meeting to order at 12:36 p.m. and members opened with the flag salute and the county creed.
Lois Johnson gave the thought of the day. “Nothing Lasts Forever,” not even your troubles. Sherry Hall gave a devotional from Psalms 40:10. At roll call members answered with “What are your New Year’s Resolutions?”
Minutes for November and December were read by Lona Horton. Patsy Walker made a motion to accept and Belinda Shubert seconded. All accepted.
The Treasurer’s report was read by Lynn Ferrari. Patsy made a modtion to accept, Lois Johnson seconded, and all approved.
Amber handed out our new books and materials for the new year.
Old business: Club had 4H members work on the pillowcases for the DHS foster kids. Six members assisted with the Pregnancy Care Center dinner. Five attended the December Tea Party for county clubs. Several helped on Christmas day serving dinner to the needy at the Elk City Community Center.
Members chose the month they want to host this year. Members plan to have a tea party for Mother’s Day in May. Members plan to help with sewing for the ‘Tooth Fairy’ pillows in April and to help with the 4H Club in Canute by helping them cutting and sewing on March 4.
The Club is taking ideas to raise money so that members can help those in need.
The next meeting will be held on Feb. 6 at the Methodist Church in Canute with Verena Misener hosting.
