Dear Editor; It appears that the ‘virus’ is still alive among us. It also looks like the control freaks · may be heading us for another lock-down. They might even really believe that it could work next time. I’d like to tell a bit about our own experience with the first lockdown.

10 YEARS AGO On the week of August 17, 2011 the Washita Heights school board agreed to auction off their old school buildings, excluding the baseball field, concession stand, and garage. The 2011 Washita County Free Fair began, bringing in townspeople of all ages.

10 YEARS AGO On the week of August 10, 2011, fires destroyed two old landmark buildings, damaged two homes, burned 2500 acres of land, and threatened the rest of Colony. Air tankers called in from Abilene, Texas, helped fight the fire along with firefighters from at least 12 communities.
