.Cordell Blue Devils vs Sayre Eagles

The Cordell High School Cross Country team placed first at Riverside in a competition held on Saturday, September 5, 2015, and are another step closer to successfully defending their 2014 State Championship. “This was a very rough course,” said Head Coach Jana Rogers, “and the girls did a fantastic job. I am very proud of them.” Details from the competition will be in the September 16 issue.

.Cordell Blue Devils vs Sayre Eagles

Feathers were flying Friday night, September 4, 2015, as the Cordell Blue Devils blew past Sayre 54 to 13 in the first home game of the young season. Cordell’s first score came just 16 plays into the game as Dillon Schmidt punched the ball in from four yards out. Logan Selman’s kick was good for the extra point and Cordell led 7-0.

Cordell Blue Devils Win 36 To 14 Over Empire

Empire did not “strike back” on Friday, August 28, 2015, when the Cordell Blue Devils claimed their first victory of the 2015 season. In a road game that was something of a grudge match on the part of Empire, Cordell jumped out to an early lead and won the game 36 to 14. “We were all happy about the enthusiasm, effort and physical play the kids brought to the game,” said Cordell Head Coach Dustin Beasley.

Cordell Lady Blue Devils Begin Season With Big Finish

“I was very pleased with the girls’ performance this week,” said Cordell Head Cross Country Coach Jana Rogers. “They all seemd to look stronger than they did last year at this time.” The team finished second, only 11 points behind host Weatherford. Cordell’s Berkley Price finsihed in fifth place with a time of 6:27.4 and Hallie Sewell took seventh with a time of 6:31.1.

Heston Brown

Heston Brown, a junior on the Cordell High School golf team, competed in the year-end South Central Section Junior PGA Walter Hopper Championship Tournament at Quail Creek Golf Course in Oklahoma City. The August 3 and 4 tournament is for high school boys who are 16 - 18 years old. Brown shot a 74 on day one and 75 on day 2 to bring home the Runner Up Trophy. He ranked second in the Most Birdies with 8, first in the Par 3 Leaderboard with 2.9, and tied for first with the Most Birdie or Better Streak with 3. Over 40 high school boys from Oklahoma competed in the tournament. Brown will continue to play through October.
