The final win of the regular season came at Watonga on Tuesday, February 18, as Cordell prevailed 65 to 38. “We knew Watonga was a very young team,” said Cordell Head Coach Jana Rogers, “very athletic, quick and with a lot of ability. I did feel our experience would pay off, however, and it did.”

Cordell Boys Upset Dibble To Win District Championship

Expectations could not have been much lower for the Cordell Blue Devils heading into the postseason, as the team was riding a five-game losing streak. But the Blue Devils were able to exorcise their demons when it mattered most, trouncing Ninnekah and inching by Dibble to claim the District Championship. The week did not start out so rosy for the Blue Devils, though, as they struggled on Tuesday, February 18, in a 43-31 loss to Watonga. Cordell was unable to generate any offense, with Micah Waters the only Blue Devil in double digits.

On Tuesday, January 28, Cordell proved to be an inhospitable hostess, taking a 55 to 19 win. “We knew Mangum had lost a very good player to injury,” said Cordell Head Coach Jana Rogers, “and would be starting three freshmen we had played on Monday night in the junior high game.”
