The Cordell Midgets Summer League Baseball

The Cordell Midgets Summer League Baseball team ended their season late last week after advancing to the Regional Tournament. The team began their season in April, playing in the Shortgrass Baseball Conference during the week and playing in tournaments on weekends. The team includes, front, Josh Mooney, Cameron Rivera, Blaine Larsen, Rylee Taylor, and Aaron Gunning. Second row, Raydon Kuehne, Dawson Willard, Dane Corbin, Shane Perkins,Billy Scott. Back row, Coaches, Rob Kuehne, Chris Larsen, Wayne Willard and Greg Gunning

Cordell Boys Play MAYB Basketball

A group of Cordell High School boys spent some of their weekends in May and June playing MAYB basketball and preparing for the upcoming 2015-2016 basketball season. Coach Slade Nightengale has coached a group of boys the past five summers.

Eighth Graders Attend Tech Trek Camp At SWOSU

Eighth graders, Maisy Rainey, Elk City (Hammon); and Marcie Diggs, Foss (Burns Flat-Dill City), were among 44 students selected for a prestigious Tech Trek camp held June 7-13, 2015, at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.

Grades Three Through Seven

Children from the Cordell area enjoyed basketball camp last week, held at the school’s newest physical education facility. Among those who helped make the camp possible were Cordell Memorial Hospital Clinic, Great Plains National Bank in Cordell, Brown Ford, Edward Jones, Phil Kliewer, Caprock Plungers Oilfield Services, Cordell Tag Agency and Restoration Market, Sewell Brothers, and Price Prints.

CHS graduate,

Mike Reimer, of Mike’s Taxidermy Artistry in Mangum and a 1991 CHS graduate, recently won First Place with an Elk in the Professional Division of the 32nd Annual Oklahoma Taxidermy Association convention in Oklahoma City. He also received the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Award for the Montana harvest bull. Taxidermy pieces are judge on workmanship, anatomy, color application and correctness, artistic composition and habitat. Since he began his taxidermy business in 2004, Mike has won numerous awards in area state shows and competitions for his deer and gamehead pieces

Cordell Junior Golf Set

Students entering third grade through 12th grade are encouraged to attend Cordell Junior Golf at the Crooked Creek Golf Course. The classes will be held each Monday in June and July. High school and junior high
school students will meet from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.

CHS Blue Devils Compete At State Track And Field Event

After a weather delay which moved the State Track and Field competition to Monday and Tuesday, May 11 and 12, the Cordell High School Blue Devil 4 x 800 Meter Relay Team finished in sixth place. With a time of 9:01.60 were Chase Thompson, Dillon Schmidt, Ryan Boecker, and Reace Russell.
