Three Blue Devils Named To Shortgrass All-Conference Baseball Team

Cordell baseball players (left to right) Colton Henson, Micah Waters and Retsyn Ootton were named to the Shortgrass All-Conference team for their excellent season. Waters and Ootton also competed at the Lawton All-Area Game Sunday, May 18, where Ootton hit a two-run home run and Waters singled.

Cordell Lady Blue Devils Track Team Takes Seventh At State

With three individual medalists and two medaling relay teams, the Cordell Lady Blue Devils track team finished seventh at the State Meet at Carl Albert High School in Midwest City. The team includes: (from left to right, top row) Hailey Carman, Morgen Price, Gabbie Parsons, McKenna Morley, Addison Kliewer, Kylee Isbell, (from left to right, bottom row) Judy Humphrey, Makalee Taylor, Cherokee Mitchell, Jordan Gilbert and Caitlyn Welch.

Crooked Creek Golf Course Held Spring Club Championship

On Saturday, May 10, the Crooked Creek Golf Course held their spring club championship. The Club champion was Macrea Brunker shooting a 69, and the runner-up was Brian Wenninger shooting a 72. Jeff Brown, who shot a 77, and Heston Brown, who shot an 81, were also in the championship flight.

Cordell Girls Track Finishes Seventh At State Meet

Capping off a tremendous inaugural season, the Cordell Lady Blue Devils track team racked up medals in six events, with three individual medalists and two relays placing in the top six. McKenna Morley’s performance in both hurdle events was a highlight, as she earned a silver medal in both the 100 meter hurdles and the 300 meter hurdles.

Cordell Finishes Season With 19 Wins

Though the Cordell Blue Devils were eliminated sooner than they wanted in the Regional Tournament after losses to Rush Springs and Hobart, the Blue Devils can take pride in a season which head coach Bobby Blackburn described as “the most enjoyable” he has coached.

Micah Waters Competes At Regional Golf Tournament

In 36 holes, Micah Waters shot a better score than some golfers shoot in 18, yet his efforts at the Regional Golf Tournament were not quite enough to qualify him for the State Golf Tournament. The tournament was held Monday, May 5, at Kingfisher.

Cordell Baseball Wins District Championship

Two games were all the Cordell Blue Devils needed to have their finest week of the baseball season, dispatching Minco intwo games to be named District  Champions. Tuesday, April 29, saw a tune-up game against Elk City canceled. Cordell head coach Bobby Blackburn noted neither side wanted to see a player hurt himself in the cold conditions so close to the District Tournament.

Cordell Golf Places Second At Clinton

Cordell’s golf team placed second at the Clinton Golf Tournament Thursday, April 24, their final tournament before their Regional Qualifier Monday, April 28. The top individual finisher for Cordell was Heston Brown, who medaled with a seventh place finish.

Cordell Softball Ends Season 17-10

Cordell’s softball team finished their season with a solid 17-10 record, ending on a hard-fought three game series with Mangum in the District Tournament. Before that tournament, the Lady Blue Devils had an opportunity to tune up against Canute, dropping the Trojans 13-5 in six innings.
