Cordell Baseball Wins District Championship

Two games were all the Cordell Blue Devils needed to have their finest week of the baseball season, dispatching Minco intwo games to be named District  Champions. Tuesday, April 29, saw a tune-up game against Elk City canceled. Cordell head coach Bobby Blackburn noted neither side wanted to see a player hurt himself in the cold conditions so close to the District Tournament.

Cordell Golf Places Second At Clinton

Cordell’s golf team placed second at the Clinton Golf Tournament Thursday, April 24, their final tournament before their Regional Qualifier Monday, April 28. The top individual finisher for Cordell was Heston Brown, who medaled with a seventh place finish.

Cordell Softball Ends Season 17-10

Cordell’s softball team finished their season with a solid 17-10 record, ending on a hard-fought three game series with Mangum in the District Tournament. Before that tournament, the Lady Blue Devils had an opportunity to tune up against Canute, dropping the Trojans 13-5 in six innings.

Bonham Selected As OU Cheerleader

Peyton Jo Bonham, daughter of Brett and Anna Bonham, Cordell, Oklahoma, and Paul and Tracy Erger, Yukon, Oklahoma, has been selected as an Oklahoma University Cheerleader. Peyton has two brothers, Jordan Bonham and Brayden Erger. She will participate in the Football, Basketball, and Gymnastic seasons.

Cordell Baseball Earns Conference Runners-Up

A 4-1 victory over Carnegie sealed the Cordell Blue Devils’ status as conference runners-up Monday, April 14, with Mangum earning the Conference Championship. In the win, Retsyn Ootton and Micah Waters knocked in an RBI each while Bryce Waldrop hit a two-run double. Dalton Ball earned the win on the mound for the Blue Devils, striking out four and giving up just four hits and one run.

Isbell, Kliewer Earn Top-Five Finishes

Accolades continue to pour in for the Cordell track program, with Kylee Isbell and Addison Kliewer highlighting a strong performance at Chisholm Friday, April 18. Isbell led the way with two first-place finishes in the 100 and 200 meter dashes. Kliewer, who took fifth in both the 800-meter run and the 300-meter hurdles, and Jordan Gilbert, who placed sixth in the 200-meter dash, were the Lady Blue Devils’ other medalists.

Cordell Soccer Celebrates Senior Night

Cordell’s senior soccer players played their last two games in Cordell this past week, losing to Elk City and Weatherford. They ended their week, though, with a win over Madill’s JV team. Tuesday, April 8, saw the Lady Blue Devils fall to Elk City 7-1, despite a strong first-half performance. McCrea Courtney scored the Lady Blue Devils’ only goal.

Isbell Highlights Strong Showing For Cordell Track

Competing against over 40 schools and over 900 athletes at Okeene, the Cordell track and field team put up a strong performance and even netted a pair of medals. Two girls brought home medals, led by Kylee Isbell’s second-place performance in the 100-meter dash, which had over 70 competing in the event.

Relay For Life Softball Tournament Was Big Success

It was a great day for softball Saturday, April 12, at the Gregory Ball Park in Cordell! The Washita County Relay For Life softball tournament was a huge success, and we want to extend our appreciation to everyone who helped to make it successful! We had 12 teams and used two fields with a total of 22 games! We had teams from Cordell, Bessie, Colony, Clinton, Arapaho, Mountain View and Burns Flat!

Honors keep coming for the Cordell Lady Blue Devil Basketball team

Honors keep coming for the Cordell Lady Blue Devil Basketball team, this time for Coach Jana Rogers who has been named the 2014 Oklahoma Girls Basketball Coaches Association West Coach of the Year. Darcie (Dick) Fuller was named West Assistant Coach of the Year.
