The Cordell High School Blue Devil basketball team defeated Hinton on Saturday, February 20, 2016, to claim the District Championship.

Morley Receives Prestigious Award

McKenna Morley, a senior at Cordell High School, was recently named the Oklahoma Coaches Association Region Four Female Scholar Athlete. The honor includes a $500 scholarship to assist in her college education.

Hicks Preliminary Hearing Continued

Kathryn Lynn Hicks, charged with Murder in the First Degree - Malice Aforethought in the death of Mike Beach, made a brief appearance at a Preliminary Hearing Conference at the Washita County Jail on Tuesday, February 23, 2016. The conference was continued by agreement until 9 a.m. on Tuesday, April 5, 2016. Hicks appeared with her attorney, Mike Housley, with the Oklahoma Indigent System.

On Tuesday, February 9, 2016, the First National Bank and Trust of Cordell recognized the top ten percent of the Cordell High School junior class. The students received letter jackets in recognition of their academic excellence. Meeting of the Burns Flat Town Board on Monday

At the meeting of the Burns Flat Town Board on Monday, February 8, 2016, dedication plaques were presented to the families of Betty A. Hudgins and Bill E. Bolechala for the naming of “Betty’s Pool” and “Bill’s Community Center.” Hudgins and Bolechala both served on the Burns Flat Town Board and contributed to the community for many years.

CMH Offering Lung Cancer Screening Test

Cordell Memorial Hospital (CMH) is stopping cancer in its tracks. The hospital is offering a new test called a CT Low Dose Lung Cancer Screening Test. “The best hope for curing lung cancer is finding it as early as possible,” said hospital CEO Landon Hise. “This test will do that.”
