Multiple gun shots rang out in a residential area of Sentinel about 5:30 a.m. Thursday, January 15, 2015.
Sentinel Police Chief Lewis Ross reportedly suffered gun shot wounds to his arm and chest, but, according to his brother-in-law Ron Putman of Cordell, is expected to recover.
Ross was transported to the Hobart Hospital then medi-flighted on to a hospital in Oklahoma City.
“Thank goodness he was wearing his protective vest,” Putman said.
Ross was reportedly responding to an alleged bomb threat called in against the Sentinel Head Start, located in the Community Action Development Corporation building located at 221 South Seventh in Sentinel.
The alleged suspects in the threat and shooting are Dallas Horton and Marie (Clements) Horton, thought to be in their late 20s or early 30s. Both are reportedly being held in the Washita County Jail.
