Summer Blood Donors Needed

Blood donors this summer will not only feel good when they donate with Oklahoma Blood Institute (OBI), each will also get two tickets to the Oklahoma City Zoo. The Zoo’s lively otter is featured on “You Otter Give Blood” T-shirts that will also be given to donors.

Bryant And Abernathy Complete Residency

Cordell High School Class of 2003 graduates Tyson Garrett Bryant and Bobby Ray Abernathy have completed four years of residency in Emergency Medicine and are now practicing physicians at OSU Medical Center in Tulsa. Dr. Bryant and Dr. Abernathy graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 2007.

OASA Names Overton District 12 Superintendent Of The Year

Brad Overton, Superintendent of Cordell Public Schools, has been named the 2016 Oklahoma Association of School Administrators (OASA) District #12 Superintendent of the Year. Overton is one of 20 superintendents from across the state selected by his peers for the award.

Sheriff’s Office Completes Compliance Checks

On Saturday, May 14, 2016, the Washita County Sheriff’s Office went to 12 businesses within the county to attempt to purchase alcohol with an individual who was under the age of 21. Clerks at eight businesses did sell alcohol to the individual. The money used to purchase the alcohol was recovered from each purchase, and the clerk who sold the alcohol was issued a summons to come to court.
