Cordell Council Denies Re-Zoning Request

CHS Lady Blue Devils Going To State

Can you define perfect? On Saturday, October 17, it was the Cordell Blue Devil Cross Country Team as t hey swept the Regional Tournament with a perfect score. According to Cordell Head Coach Jana Rogers, the lowest possible score is 15, and the Lady Blue Devils earned that on Saturday.

Cordell Police Department Releases September Activity Summary

During the month of September, 2015, the Cordell Police Department logged 1,490 calls, 91 animal calls, 19 ambulance calls and 11 fires were reported. A breakdown of the total offenses includes: 5 assault - simple 1 civil - attachment 2 civil - other 1 disorderly conduct 2 family - domestic affair 2 larceny/theft - from building 1 non traffic offense 1 public peace - house check 3 threats/intimidation 3 traffic - direct traffic 5 traffic - other 4 vandalism/destruction/ damage of property 1 warrant - other 8 warrants - local (served) There were a total of 76 traffic stops, 40 written warnings, and 22 citations.

Burns Flat Prepares For Celebration

Beginning with a four-man golf scramble and concluding with a street dance, Burns Flat will celebrate its 60th birthday on Saturday, October 17, 2015. The golf scramble will be held at The Greens Golf Course and is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m.

Members of the Cordell High School

Members of the Cordell High School Academic team won all three of their matches at the District Tournament on Monday, October 12, 2015, and will advance to the Regional Competition in Oklahoma City on November 14. Cordell Memorial Hospital Offers Free Flu Shots

Cordell’s hospital is bringing wellness to a location near you. Cordell Memorial Hospital (CMH) will administer free flu shots Monday, October 19 at Burns Flat-Dill City High School from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., Burns Flat-Dill City Elementary from 10:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. and Canute School from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 20, CMH will offer free flu shots at the Cordell Health Department and Cordell Christian Home from 8 a.m. to noon.

Brown Ford Donates To CHS

Brown Ford, Cordell High School, and members of the local community raised $6,000 for CHS at a recent test-drive event, as part of Ford Motor Company’s Drive 4 UR School program. A total of 306 Cordell-area residents test drove a Ford vehicle at the Washita County Free Fair.

Sewing Group Makes, Donates Pillowcases

Members of Church of the Harvest (COTH)-Cordell Campus learned a few months ago that the state did not have adequate funding to cloth foster children in Oklahoma. COTH has always had a soft spot in their hearts for foster children. They have held foster kids camp for any foster child in the State of Oklahoma, for the past ten years. When they heard the news about the lack of funding, they were heart broken. In August, they reached out to those in Washita County who were in need of clothing for children, sizes newborn to senior in high school.

Welcome To Cordell

This is the first of four "Welcome To Cordell" signs that will be put up at the four entrances into town. It is a joint project of the Cordell Lions club, Cordell Civic club and Cordell Chamber of Commerce. The groups are working together to raise the funds necessary to complete the signs. Donations are being accepted. Call Sheryl McComas for more information or to make a donation.
