Dr. Kenneth D Adams, 84, of Port Orchard, Washington, died Monday at Harrison Hospital. He was born in Washita County, Oklahoma, to Alvin and Leona (Carpenter) Adams. He graduated from Cowden School in Cowden, Oklahoma, in 1946, and attended Southwestern University in Weatherford, Oklahoma, Oklahoma University (OU) in Norman, Oklahoma, Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Washington, and University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles, California. On July 16, 1948, he married El Wanda Janes in Washita County, Oklahoma. Dr. Adams' professional career spanned more than 50 years, from 1948, until his retirement in 1998, from Sound Counseling of Port Orchard, Washington, where he was counselor, as well as owner. Previously, he was President and Member of South Kitsap School Board, Director of Special Education for South Kitsap Schools, Counselor and Teacher at Marcus Whitman Junior High School in Port Orchard, Washington. He was a teacher in Los Angeles, California, at Mountain View High School in Mountain View, Oklahoma, and at Cowden School in Cowden, Oklahoma. He was affiliated with the Methodist faith. On July 28, 2004, he married Novalene (Sheets) Bynum, in Southern California. Survivors include his wife Novalene; a son, Dale Adams of Port Orchard; three sisters, Vada Boyle and her husband, Walt, of Houston, Texas, Linda Tayler and her husband, Dick of Dallas, Texas, and Reba Wooley and her husband, Randall, of Okmulgee, Oklahoma; and three grandchildren, Kelly Adams of Vancouver, Washington, Adam Adams of Seattle and Hope (Heidtman) Mitchell and her husband Joe of Port Orchard. A funeral service was held at noon Monday, at Rill Chapel. Interment was held at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Bremerton, with a grave side service for family following the funeral service.
