Gearld Morris, 74, Rocky, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, December 18,  2013, in Elk City, Oklahoma.He was born on March 1, 1939, to Carl and Mildred (Royster) Morris in Stuart,  Oklahoma. Gearld grew up in eastern Oklahoma and graduated from Gerty High School. He married Elaine Recker on June 2, 1962, and she preceded him in death on January 1, 2010. Gearld served with the United States Army with the Green Berets during the Vietnam Conflict.  He moved to Eakly, Oklahoma, in 1963 and to Rocky, Oklahoma, in 1985. He was an inspector for the Oklahoma Gerald Lawayne Morris State Department of Agriculture for many years. Gearld married Jan Mathews on July 14, 2012. He was a member of the Salem Baptist Church. Gearld was a three time World Champion All- Around  Cowboy. He was gifted in calf roping and trained many young cowboys.
He is survived by his wife Jan, of the home in Rocky, Oklahoma; one son, Lawayne Morris and wife Kari, Elk City, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Brandon Morris, Cameron Morris, Chance Morris, and Ashlyn Morris; two sisters, Joyce Turpin and husband Gene, Atwood, Oklahoma and Lucretia Davis and husband Tommy, Atwood, Oklahoma. Gearld was preceded indeath by his parents, Carl and Mildred Morris and first wife Elaine. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 20, 2013, at the Salem Baptist Church, Rocky, Oklahoma, with Rev. Gerald Jarvis, Rick Ridling and Rev. Lynn Richardson officiating. Burial followed in the Salem Cemetery, Rocky, Oklahoma, under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home, Hobart, Oklahoma.
