Christene Naddine Millington Goodwin was born May 28, 1914, in Berlin, Oklahoma, to Cora Dell and Seth Millington. She passed away December 6, 2013, at Cordell, Oklahoma, at the age of 99 years 6 months and 8 days.
Christene grew up on a farm east of Berlin and graduated from Berlin High School in 1933. Soon after graduating she went to Wichita, Kansas to attend a business school. After a few months she had  to return home to help her mother on the farm because her father became ill and died. It was on one of the trips home by train that she met Reed Goodwin from Sentinel. They were married January 7, 1940. They lived a short time in  Wichita but returned to Berlin to make their home and raise their family. They stayed on their farm until 1991, when they moved to Sayre to make their home. Christene enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, especially irises, cooking, canning, flower arranging and crafts of all kinds. She loved being creative. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Berlin, Sayre and Cordell. She taught Sunday School for many years at Berlin and enjoyed singing in a quartet with her friends on special occasions. She also belonged to Extension Homemakers, Berlin Community Club and Methodist WSCS. She loved writing the history of her family, Berlin and Roger Mills County and was instrumental in the publication of the book, Memories of Berlin and was on the committee for the book, Prairie Fire. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers, Ira, Chester, Winston, Woodrow and Vernon, and three sisters, Jewell, Beatrice and Estelline. She is survived by her children, Gale Goodwin and wife, Cynthia, Quitman, Texas, and Joy Dell Scheller and husband,  Eddie, Cordell, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Steven Goodwin and wife, Sandi, Plano,  Texas, Robby Scheller, Davis, Oklahoma, and Gina Thain and husband, David, Cordell, Oklahoma; five great grandchildren, Alison, Reed, Kylie, Tori, and Maci; three  step great grandchildren, Dayton, Alexsis and Alex and a host of other relatives and friends. Services will be held December 12, 2013 at 10:30 am at Cordell United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Amanda Lockwood. Burial will be at Berlin Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service. Condolences can be made online at www. whineryfs.com.
